I think the biggest problem with this whole thing is that there's been hardly any research done. People simply don't know anything about what they're putting on their bodies. It's especially important to research but what happens when there isn't much to find? My biggest problem in this journey has been finding a sufficient amount of facts. Sure, we can look at these chemicals and test how harmful they are but what happens next? Rather than testing the products themselves, the only results we've found have been the effects they're having on us!

The United States is an incredibly proud country, however, we are letting other nations pass us by prohibiting the use of cancer causing chemicals in their cosmetics. If we're supposed to be the greatest country in the world, why are we still allowing this? I'm still extremely confused as to how this is even legal.

Even after looking more into it. Here are some things I'm still left wondering: 1) The United States have almost no safety regulations when it comes to the chemicals they are allowed to be in our cosmetics 2) Major corporations are deceiving us by having unclear labels and 3) We can end this if we stop running from it.

I have a theory about why these are almost none of our cosmetics are regulated. Okay, think about this from a financial aspect. If a company is able to slightly change a couple things on the label and charge double the price, it’s all profit! People are more inclined to purchase an item from a company they recognize and if it’s claiming to be a safer alternative, why wouldn’t they fall for it? It just makes sense. Unfortunately, we are falling victim to their economic scheme and our health is suffering as a consequence.

I’ve noticed some people just don’t want to admit there is a problem, which I honestly don’t understand. I think it’s just hard admitting something we’ve known for so long is not quite what it claims to be. Imagine if you write a 30 page research paper then your professor tells you to change your entire viewpoint on the topic and start over. If it was me, I’d be pretty frustrated about having to start all over. That’s the biggest problem here! It’s hard to change our habits but at the same time, it’s scary thinking about what could happen if we don’t.

So, what can we do about it? If we can educate ourselves on what these chemicals are and how we can avoid them, we will be much better off in the long run. The biggest thing that came out of this blog was being able to learn more about what to look out for in regard to the chemicals themselves and where to find them.
